David Alan Stephens

A driven theatre maker committed to creating environments for exceptional, groundbreaking art. Be it producing an impactful show in ten days, bringing new work to life, or finding funding for a cabaret featuring two best friends, I will make it happen.
David Stephens (he/him) is a Producer, Director, and occasional performer from Portland, Ore. He is the Founder and Managing Artistic Director of Sunstone Theatre, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to creating positive, supportive professional experiences for young and emerging theatre-makers.
In addition to his experience with Sunstone Theatre, David has worked at The Glimmerglass Festival, Bridgetown Conservatory of Musical Theatre and Oregon Children’s Theatre, as well as spent time time learning at Yale Repertory Theatre and The Marriott Theatre.
David is currently in his final year at Linfield University in McMinnville, Ore. He will receive a B.A. in Theatre Arts and a B.S. in Music in May of 2026, having spent his time at Linfield exploring acting, directing, producing, and management.
When not in the theatre, David can be found hiking, doing calligraphy, or hosting dinner parties for his friends. He attends theatre weekly and especially appreciates the work being done in educational theatre across the country.
